About me
I am a registered Movement Psychotherapist with ADMP UK and Supervisor with COSCA. I am also a Coach and Yoga Teacher with SYTT and Yo Chi. I have done additional training with Special Yoga for children who have ADHD and Autism. Connecting with the whole person mind, body and soul is important in my work with people. I enjoy sharing somatic resources because they are so practical and free once you know them. Somatic resources are body based interventions that can help calm the nervous system when in a stress or trauma response. They can also help to release trauma, emotions and stress held in the body from the past. I believe in the innate wisdom in the body and our connection to nature for healing and overall wellbeing.
What I offer
I specialise in Embodied Psychotherapy with children, young people and adults . Sessions are integrative with the view that there is no single approach to suit all. They are trauma-informed and draw on cognitive, mindful, somatic and creative approaches to therapy.
My approach is embodied with the view that emotions, trauma and memories are stored in the body and that there are times when words are not enough to release trauma, regulate and integrate our experiences. Key to an embodied approach is the body mind connection. And the innate connection we have to nature and the wisdom within.
I am also soon to offer Neurodiverse Success: Help your child thrive and grow into a confident independent learner.
More detail of how I work can be found on my website: www.mharibaxter.com or the Counselling Directory.
