About Traditional Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese acupuncture is a tried and tested system of complementary medicine. The Chinese and other eastern cultures have been using acupuncture to restore, promote and maintain good health for thousands of years.
There is a growing body of research evidence that shows acupuncture to be a cost effective form of treatment for a wide range of conditions, and more and more people are finding this long established therapy can offer an effective solution to all manner of today's ills.
Acupuncture is considered safe and suitable for all ages, including babies and children. It can also be used alongside and in support of conventional medical treatments.
The traditional system of Chinese medicine looks at pain and illness as signs that the body is out of balance. The overall aim of acupuncture treatment is to restore the body's natural equilibrium. Physical and psycho-emotional aspects of health are seen as entirely interdependent.
Among the most common causes of imbalance and ill-health are: emotional and physical stress; poor nutrition; infection and injury.

Diagnosis & Treatment
Traditional acupuncturists are trained to use subtle diagnostic techniques to explore each individual's specific patterns of health and imbalance, and to determine the root cause of illness and the best course of treatment.
Acupuncture treatments involve the insertion of very fine needles at specific points around the body in order to regulate blood flow, alleviate pain, stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms and to balance emotions.
Treatments usually last up to an hour (up to 1.5 hours for initial consultation and treatment).
