All of us alive today face problems and challenges to our sense of wellbeing.

Usually we manage to muddle through, sometimes well and sometimes less well, and we carry on trying to live our best lives.

It can happen that we are faced with something that seems to have us stuck and feeling unable to move forward.

It may be a new situation or one that seems to keep repeating itself.

If you are thinking about counselling it is probably because you realise that you need some help to get unstuck and to bring about some sort of a change, or to regain some sense of control over what is going on in your life.

That realisation is a great start.

Many of us have come to feel that if we can't sort our problems out on our own, then there is something wrong with us.  I do not believe this.

I work in a person-centred way, which means that I do believe that we all have the desire and the innate ability to live positive and fulfilling lives.

By establishing a relationship of trust and honesty, client and counsellor can together explore what is going on in a way that has meaning for you, the client.

The experience of being truly listened to, without the fear that we might be judged, can allow us to think and feel more freely.

I love doing this work. The context of counselling allows me to connect with clients in a way that feels real and that is a precious thing.

Like many of us I have arrived at this point in my life after a long and winding road of varied experience, not all of it pleasant at the time, and I am glad to be here now - older and hopefully wiser.

I currently work part-time as a School Counsellor and volunteer for a Local Charity whose mission is to eradicate Poverty in Moray.

For years I have benefitted from, and been interested in Group work.

It sits well alongside one-to-one sessions and offers participants a sense of belonging, peer support and an opportunity to learn from each other.

I hold a Diploma of Higher Education in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of the Highlands and Islands and am a member of COSCA - the governing body for Counselling in Scotland.

Sessions will last an hour and will cost £ 40.00 .

I work with young people (12 years and over) and adults.

I prefer to work face to face but am willing to meet online if preferred.

I look forward to meeting you.

Sometimes my only remaining choice is to follow a path
that I fear will be difficult and painful.
When this is so, it gives me courage to know that I have
a trusted companion, a fellow-traveller by my side
